Summary: RECOVERjoy has prepared a party for you! Isn't that exciting?

The entire park is lit up with paper lanterns in shades of orange and yellow; there are even some floating serenely in the fountain. Music filters through the air, the style and tempo changing often. The robots you should by now be used to are moving about the area keeping the refreshments table stocked and cleaning up any messes that might appear. This is a party, after all.

As for those points, well, you're sure to get some if you earn them yourself. Don't worry, RECOVERjoy has provided a few ways for you to start collecting.

[Shizuo had also decided to avoid the drinks on the table, though for different reasons. Getting the poison in those bags aside, he just disliked alcohol as a whole. Noticing that someone else was nearby...

Getting two different servings of the ice cream, not actually doing anything to it, Shizuo went up to the small guy. At least small for someone that was over six feet tall... Offering the ice cream, actually with good intentions he adds,]

Here. Keeping cool will help.

[If this scared him... Oops? He really didn't mean it.]

[Latvia flinches slightly at the sudden voice behind him. Craning his head up he starts to tremble a little at the sheer size of him. Even if Shizuo came with good intentions that doesn't stop Latvia from being paranoid. He never did trust tall people]

H-huh? Oh, thank-you very much.

[He gratefully takes the ice-cream but doesn't dare try it. Even outside of Joywick, strangers giving him treats is always extremely dubious]

[Tall blonds could be scary. Even though he couldn't figure out why he flinched, between home and the true nature of being in this 'game' it wasn't surprising.]

[He's actually going to take a bit of a spoonful before he actually realizes that the guy's not going to have it. It's almost like he just remembered that poison was included in those goodie bags and those missions.]

Ah- I didn't do anything to it.

[Latvia looks up, slightly startled. He was pretty sure he hadn't been mumbling his thoughts out loud again. Looking between Shizuo and the ice-cream he was conflicted. On the one hand, he didn't want to be rude but on the other hand he did want to be cautious]

Then... if it isn't too much trouble, could you prove it please?

[Latvia offers it to him, seeing if he would take a spoonful or not]

[Given what those missions were, people getting sick in the apartments and the goodie bags it was a reasonable worry. Perhaps it would've been offensive or irritating in different circumstances. Having this chance to really think things through more properly made Shizuo think it was easier to understand circumstances and stuff.]

It's not really a problem.

[Watch him take a bit of a spoonful. Not too much, if only because it wasn't his cup.]

[For a moment, he seems a little dubious. Even if it wasn't a lot he wouldn't so readily take it if it was poisoned, he just needed to be extra careful of needles or glass shards. Hesitantly, Latvia tries a small spoonful for himself. It's not bad, he certainly doesn't feel like he's going to keel over any time soon]

[He gives a small apologetic smile]

[With this game, anything deserves some level of suspicion.]

[He gives a small nod and takes another bite of ice-cream]

It's nice to meet you, Shizuo. My name's... um...

[Latvia hesitates, unsure if he should give out his real name or a fake one. For all he knows, Shizuo might not be his real name either. It's barely even started and already this city is making him go through convoluted mind games. Despite the fact he practically towers over him, Shizuo doesn't seem like a bad guy. It might be safe enough]

My name is Raivis.

Raivis... Got it.

[At least, he thinks he does. Shizuo was never the best at remembering names. Eating a bit more of the ice cream, it seems at some point he already finished about half of his own cup.]

I guess it's pretty good, after all... Saving up to pay off the loan, I never really got to try their desserts and stuff.

Have you paid yours off yet?

[If he has that's certainly a little cause for concern. He would have had to have gotten those points somehow after all]

Ah, not really...

[He hadn't gotten many points on purpose, save for the ones that had everyone making friends. With the new missions, Shizuo was trying to figure out a safe, temporary way of getting points without causing others too much distress. It wasn't exactly the thing he did or thought about.]

The missions aren't really my thing, you know?

Mm, yeah.

To be honest I don't really want to play. As soon as I pay off my loan I'm probably going home.

[Not that he's happy with the situation at home in the slightest but he'd rather not be selfish if it's at the expense of someone else. His friends are smart, they might be able to figure something out. He should have spoken to them first]

[He didn't know anything about Raivis' situation, but there was a reason why Shizuo wouldn't go back. Despite how much he hated the game. Returning to Ikebukuro with things the way they were, it wasn't actually a choice.]

There's probably ways of going around it without actually hurting people. Just gotta change or do it differently, right?

Well, I mean the first set of missions were okay. It was difficult but it was doable.

I'm not sure what other way there is to get points though. Unless you can trade them with people, I'm not sure how.

[He takes the phone he was issued out of his pockets and starts poking around the applications. Latvia wasn't exactly the best with technology and it's clear he's a little overwhelmed by it]

[Shizuo would help, except... he didn't really know much about them. He barely did anything with his original mobile. This one was definitely a technological upgrade.]

Best I could figure was find a way to do the missions that don't have you hurt people. Then try to do it in a way that's as temporary as possible.

[How to do that with the latest mission, now that was something he hadn't completely figured out.]

[Latvia nodded along but it didn't seem to be giving him any more of a sense of hope]

But... what if all the missions from now on involve targeting people? Then what?

Ah, it's not good to target and hurt people, so...

[This is hard, coming up with a conclusion. At least for someone that was used to letting irritation and threats take over. Wait, take over...]

Find a way to force the system to change?

Considering they're the ones helping us I don't know if they'd appreciate that.

[Of course the helping isn't exactly helping. If he knew this was what it would be like then he would have never agreed and he promised himself he wouldn't get dragged into this kind of situation again]

But you're right, this is completely twisted. Do you know who's in charge? Even if they don't listen to us we can at least find out who we're dealing with.

Who? Not really... They should be over there though, right?

[To which he points off in the direction of the biggest building in Joywick. If only because he's guessing that's the headquarters.]

If they're in the city.

[Latvia looks in the direction Shizuo points, having to crane his head up a little to get the complete view. It makes sense, they'd have to have some kind of headquarters. If the brain of the operation wasn't there at the very least there'd be someone who knew the right direction]

I think you're right. Maybe we should go and see them sometime.

[For somewhere so focused on the supposed happiness of others he doesn't think they'll be shot on sight... or at least he hopes]

I guess... Seems like a lot of work, though.

[Latvia, how familiar are you with the sound of someone that actually has a bit of a lazy nature?]

It might be worth it...

[Normally Latvia would be the same, but if he's being slowly forced into a corner he's not going to lie down and take it]

I'm sure it won't be that much effort. I'm used to working with the government so I think I know what to do.

[Luckily, while Shizuo is someone that appreciates taking it easy, he would do things that are 'right' or considered worth the effort. The only other time that he would forgo taking things easy was when something irritated him enough to act. Still...]

You've worked in the government long, then?

[balzams]

Yeah, I've worked with them for a very long time.

[Considering the reasons he signed up to the campaign in the first place he's not sure if he should divulge too much information. Shizuo didn't seem like the kind of person that would screw him over.

Obviously he was the most dangerous. Maybe it's better to just be vague]

I know it may sound odd, but I'm older than I look.

[He started to get the pack of cigarettes out from his pocket as the latter statement was made. It explained some things, sure, but]
