Event: This is the Way We Carve a Pumpkin
Characters: Everyone in the pumpkin carving contest!
Date: October 12, all day until 8PM
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Summary: It's time to carve some pumpkins! Or steal some pumpkins. Or destroy some pumpkins.
Everything is even more orange than usual in the arena today--between pumpkins, orange and black streamers, orange and black decorations, and even orange leaves scattered on the ground, it certainly looks like a Halloween-themed contest. There are a multitude of tables set out and covered with plastic tablecloths with witches and ghosts smiling out at everyone.
But wait, are there really enough tools to go around? No, it looks like there aren't: there are only three sets of carving tools, three candles, one box of matches, and five pumpkins. You'd better hope you can keep track of your pumpkin and be the one to hand it in--in one piece--at the end of the day.
Music filters through speakers in the arena. Better get started!

He'd have to start eating less if he wanted to pay off his loan. Finding a free set of tools and an unsupervised pumpkin he looked around to see what everyone else was up to. It was only then he noticed the distinct lack of resources. Well, he didn't want any trouble...]
Re: Turn in Pumpkins
Pumpkin: A very intricately carved screaming face, with the eyes hollowed out to let the light of the candle out! Apparently Bel has some artistic talent, since it's quite detailed and realistic. It's carved out of the pumpkin rather than cutting all the way through- something like this.
....It looks oddly like Rin. Perhaps it's the knife stuck in the upper part of the "head" with pumpkin guts, that more than a little resemble blood, spilling out of it. In fact, the part seems to be held together by the knife, as if someone took a fist or a bat to that part and Bel had to make some last minute adjustments to keep the thing from falling apart.
It also has a crown! A broken one made of spare pieces. One that is not included on top of said pumpkin because peasants, even pumpkins, do not get them. It's to the side.

[Which is why he couldn't help but toss a few knives precariously around Latvia when he saw the poor boy looking around nervously. Hopefully, that'd induce the scream or two Bel was looking for, and if not, the prince was more than happy to spare a few knives to get it.]
Ushishishi~! Happy Halloween, Rai~vis~
[He's some distance away, holding onto his own pumpkin like one would a stuffed animal, knives loosely held from one of his hands.]
[His hair is a bit more orange and shorter than usual, and he's sporting a pair of obscuring sunglasses over his (or where one could assume they would be) eyes.]

Wh-what was that for!?
-10 points ( minor emotional )

Grabbing a pumpkin and a candle, and foregoing the tools in favor of his own knives, he picks a spot to set everything down. ...Now what?
What was the point in carving a pumpkin anyway?]
Re: Turn in Pumpkins
Pumpkin: Well, it took her a while to get here and even longer to figure out what she was supposed to do, think of a scary enough image, and do it, but... she has finished carving a pumpkin, and here it is.
Aliens are too scary to think about, let alone craft a design of; Izaya getting brutally run over by her motorbike and coughing up his guts is too complex. So the design on surface of this pumpkin, one made on her own and with lots of concentration, is something that appears like a woman's head.
The carpentry and skill put into its depiction is a mix of both amateur and strangely precise, although the image itself looks adequately eye-catching and might almost seem to have a certain power the longer you watch it. The woman's lips curl into an absolutely sinister grin; her eyebrows arch upward mischevously, over half-lidded eyes and haunting pupils. It's hard to tell exactly what she's "thinking", but it must be something devious-- or maybe it's just delight at the fact the flesh on one side of her face is apparently decaying away, carved lines and holes imitating mottled, rotting skin. The lines of hair that dip over the rest of her features house spiders, insects, a bone or two, knives... several gruesome sights sticking out as part of it, and carved here and there all the way to the back. A burning candle sits in the center (it might or might not be smaller than usual, if she's shared half of it with someone else!), lighting the entire picture up.

heck, the only reason she feels like she can say something is because of a certain self-proclaimed fiance back home who's into all sorts of crazy topics, but: ]
You're supposed to carve something into it, I think.
no subject
What are you supposed to do with it after you've carved something on it anyway? It sounds real useless to me.
[But points are points. Even as he speaks, he glances at his own pumpkin again, turning one of his knives over in his hands.]
Re: Turn in Pumpkins
Pumpkin: Rin's got little to no artistic talent, so his is a pretty clumsily carved pumpkin. Nevertheless, the cuts are all very carefully made, forming not a face, but an image of the night sky, lit up by a candle. Somewhat like this, just... clumsy and with more stars.
The moon looks like more of an afterthought, like he realized there was some extra space left at the last moment, with extra attention paid to carving the stars around it. One star might stand out as somewhat resembling a crown... and looking as if he'd attempted to cross it out.
The pumpkin itself isn't exactly in the best shape, but hey, it's not falling apart!
no subject
Halloween's a time for screaming, you know? 'shishishi, you weren't doing enough of it.
[Even if he learned that just recently.]
no subject
Pumpkin: It's a somewhat decent effort for someone who's never carved a pumpkin before. Then you realise it wasn't done by a ten year old and the attempt is just laughable.
There's nothing particularly special about the design. It's you're standard jack-o'-lantern face, triangle shaped eyes and nose with that same toothy grin. The cuts could use some work though, some of them overstep the gaps they produced and there's the occasional slit where he suddenly decided that that was the wrong place for the features. The insides has been mostly hollowed out but it wasn't a very clean job. There are a few scraps of seeds and pumpkin flesh around the lid, which doesn't quite sit right. While space was made for a candle, it isn't included.
no subject
N-not like that! It's not a time for violence.
[Yes, that'll convince him to change his ways. Or maybe you should have delivered some kind of witty one-liner so you didn't look so scared]
no subject
Um...
[ woah, give her a second to think. after typing out that tiny not-quite-word, Celty retrieves her phone, erases it, and writes something more bearing. ]
You have a candle, right? Carve a design that lets the space inside show through, and then put the lit candle in there.
It's... probably something interesting to look at when it's done? Maybe it's supposed to go on display.
no subject
Still, her new reply does make a bit more sense now. She doesn't sound so sure herself and it still seems a little silly to him, but it's more than he had a moment ago. Besides. Something interesting to look at? He does have one idea...
He nods and smiles up at her. ] Hmmm, got ya! I can do that. What're you gonna do with yours though? Can I see, can I see?
no subject
Um...
[ this guy's sure getting a lot of "um's" out of her. and yes, Celty does need to type out every single one. her shoulders kind of jump when he asks that question, as though she didn't expect it.
because she didn't.hesitation, and then still other texted letters punched out with a little more uncertainty.]
I'm not too sure yet, actually.
I'm still trying to think of something really scary...
no subject
Something scary, huh? It doesn't have to be though, yeah? [And here he grins, already distracted by a new thought.] But you're just gonna have to think of something to scare everyone else here!
no subject
[Still staring down at the other boy, he waves the knife back and forth, swings it around a bit, and tosses it up and down a few times as if mocking the fact that Latvia was getting scared at all.]
[Of course, his true intention of having the knife out was quickly revealed when he flicked it at the ground beside Latvia, barely missing his neck by a few millimeters.]
[It couldn't have been by accident....]
no subject
He barely has time for the words to sink in before he feels something whip the wind around his neck. The knife in Belphegor's hand is gone, wedged in the ground besides him and with little thought he yanks it out, holding it in front of him as if that would somehow protect him or intimidate him. The shaking didn't exactly help]
Sh-shut-up! You can't talk to me like that!
no subject
[Obviously this guy isn't normal at all.]
[In fact, he looks a little more than a bit unhinged as he rocks back and forth, still giggling.]
Ushishishishi~! Why not? I can talk to you how I want, because I'm a prince.
no subject
[Latvia can't fathom why on earth he's still speaking at all. Part of him wants to run away but another part of him keeps egging him on, telling him he's experienced worse. For his fearful personality, he's surprisingly stubborn against threats from other people]
no subject
[More knives slid into his hand. Despite the teasing tone of his words and his smile, the prince did seem to take offence at the comment.]
I won't let you live to see my heir if you keep talking like that, idiot.
no subject
If his position as a nation was in jeopardy then all the perks (or disadvantages, depending on perspective) would probably vanish along with it. Which meant no more functional immortality.
Suddenly Latvia was feeling a slot less brave]
Th-then leave me alone! You don't have to listen to me if you're not around me!
no subject
You insulted me and that's a crime in itself. You have to pay as an enemy of the prince ♪
no subject
Y-you started it! If you hadn't been throwing knives at me...!
no subject
[Though the sunglasses obscure his eyes entirely, the slight movement to his head shows that he's looking at the knife once more with interest.]
Give that back or I'll kill you now. Little children shouldn't play with dangerous things.
no subject
P-please don't patronize me... I-if you promise to leave me alone I'll give it back.
no subject
Don't tell a prince what to do.
[His frown is quickly replaced by a wide, amused grin.]
Oh? And what are you going to do if I don't and take it from you anyway?
[He seems almost excited to hear the answer- this would be funny.]
no subject
I-if you attack me I'll still have to defend myself...
