You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

The only way to get those joypoints is to steal theirs. How? Take their happiness away. It's easy! Maybe a rumor here, an injury there... but if you want the big points, be creative!

[he usually pays attention to his surroundings, but running into someone after turning a blind corner is just one of those instances where attentiveness doesn't help. unpleasant surprise that it is, he still manages to catch his bearings relatively fast.]

[He just barely catches himself from tumbling backward. It takes yet another moment to remember other people exist and he just ran into one.]

Fine. Better than fine! Amazing!

[The volume of his voice rises with each assurance, and by the end of it, he's finally looking the other man in the eye. He's still breathing hard, and he hopes that means his lie isn't obvious, hesitation easily attributed to disorientation and catching his breath.]

[if only he was that easy to fool... but, luckily for this stranger, he definitely doesn't make a habit of calling people out on their lies (immediately, at least). that air of placation might be hard to miss, on the other hand.]

You look like you're in quite a rush! But you should keep in mind that there are a decent number of other residents in the city. It would be terrible if anyone ended up injured.

[He laughs. Nervously. Yep, terrible indeed, wouldn't want that.]

Sorry 'bout that! Guess that's just what happens when there are too many people around! They blend into the background, and you forget they're even there! Every big city's premiere magic trick!

[gosh Masaomi it's almost like you're not at ease or something, how strange! Good thing Kudou is such a helpful samaritan and all. The silly comparison earns him a laugh, though he winds up politely waving the apology off.]

It's fine, don't worry about it. I would be a little more careful than usual right now, that's all. A lot of people seem to be agitated. [A mildly concerned look follows this and he glances back over his shoulder in the direction he had come from before giving a small shrug.]

But do you need help finding something? I don't think shops close this early, so you don't need to rush.

Naw, nothing like that! [It's a hasty denial but not overly excited.] I just saw this drop dead gorgeous chick back at the apartments! Yanno- [Brb, discreetly cupping air-boobs to make his point.] Joy riders that'd make any nose bleed.

I don't think you'll have to worry about having difficulties finding her again, even if you waited a while. The perimeters of the city are surprisingly small so you'll likely be seeing the same faces very often.

You could just look her up on this-- [he holds up his joyphone, which had been tucked to his side] --if that's the case, which would save you time and trouble. Ah, but I don't want to hold you up for long if that isn't the case. [politely sidestepping a little!]

[He inches around the man and speeds up when he gives him the room to do so, grinning all the while.]
