Summary: Arrivals.
You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

The only way to get those joypoints is to steal theirs. How? Take their happiness away. It's easy! Maybe a rumor here, an injury there... but if you want the big points, be creative!

Near Headquarters

[gatto]

[So he can't go inside the big orange building. All right, cool, no big deal. Aside from idle curiosity and a desire to map out the entire city, he hadn't had any reason in particular for even going near it, so that suits him just fine.

Even if he is curious about just what they've got hidden in there.

So he does the perfectly logical thing upon finding himself unable to go somewhere: he takes out the camera he brought with him and raises it to his face.

Snap.

Might as well take a picture of the place. And, of course, if anyone's near, he'll address them as he takes a second picture.]

Makes you wonder who designed that thing, huh?

[outfoxing]

[Yep he wasn't about to give up a chance to scope out the HQ of this city, not when the notion that they could supposedly back up these promises of theirs was the driving factor behind him signing up in the first place.

He looks over only when spoken to, but immediately nods in agreement.]

Impressive people, I would imagine.

[gatto]

[He lowers his arms, the camera still held loosely in one hand.]

Impressive people who really don't want us getting in. That's a lot of security for a game, y'know?

[outfoxing]

It may be a game, but the promises they say they can fulfill seem like the sort of thing that would need this kind of security, right? Wouldn't you protect the secrets of your company if you were in their shoes?

[but that's quickly followed by a somewhat nonchalant shrug.]

[gatto]

[He's silent for several moments, still staring up at the orange building as he puts away his camera.

Then Rin turns around to face him, breaking out into a smile and folding his arms behind his head.] Guess so!

They've gotta have some real nice stuff in there if they can really do all of that! It'd be real bad for business if someone found out just what!

[outfoxing]

[The smile has his own brightening in turn, and he shifts his attention away from the building fully now.]

Right? It's like a food chain that touts a secret recipe! If they gave it away to just anyone, no one would come to their restaurant anymore because people could just replicate it on their own. [Except with a bit more government conspiracy and a lot more at stake but details.]

[gatto]

[He nods.] Uh huh! Then we probably wouldn't even be here!

We could do it ourselves. [There's a moment where his smile turns into more of a smirk, but it's quickly gone, bright smile back in place.]

[mellowyellow]

Someone with a serious citrus boner, that's who.

[Masaomi cocks his head from several paces behind the boy taking pictures, straining his neck to get a look at the very top.

The high school student is still none-too-pleased about the way everyone arrived, but it quickly became clear to him that this is just going to be another one of those things that he has to accept. That doesn't mean he can't sniff around a bit though, or talk to others doing the same.]

Or maybe color blind...?

[gatto]

[The words entirely unexpected, Rin laughs, quickly lowering his camera.

He turns around to face the boy, a wide grin on his face.]

Jeez, whatever it is, I dunno if this was such a good color to pick. It's pretty tacky.

[mellowyellow]

If they wanted to stick out so badly, they could've at least gone with something like purple! Just as crazy, but it doesn't make your eyes water when you stare at it long enough.

[He matches that grin, glad for an enthusiastic response, and leans forward with a wink.]

Kida Masaomi, self-nominated president of the Save Our Eyes Foundation! We need those to ogle chicks.

I wonder who this excellent photographer I've found is~?

[gatto]

They could've gone with a whole lotta colors! But orange? Someone's got some real bad taste.

[Still grinning, he leans forward slightly as well, raising his camera again. Well, he's not about to ogle any chicks, but that's not such a bad name...! And he does appreciate comments about his photography!]

President Kida, eh? I'm Rin!

[mellowyellow]

Rin, huh? Short but sharp. Works for me! I could really get used to "President Kida" too~

[He elbows him lightly.]

Nice to know someone around here has great taste!

[gatto]

You did say you were the president, eh? No one calls you that?

[He stretches his arms above his head, grinning up at him. ...Aw, man, everyone is taller than him.]

That's not so hard in this place! You gotta wonder what they were thinking.

But it's nicer than some places I've seen, I'll give you that!

[terribubble]

What are you taking pictures for?

[ honest curiosity until she goes on. ]

I'm not too fond of the orange...

[gatto]

[He grins over at her after snapping one more picture.]

No reason! Taking pictures is just my hobby.

[As she goes on though, he laughs.] It's kinda' tacky, eh? They shoulda' painted it another color!

[terribubble]

Guess orange is there thing!

[ well, she can't complain much. ]

Think we can be fronds? This is all very exciting!

[gatto]

Guess so! Whoever's in charge here probably really likes it. And that's why they're assaulting our poor eyes!

[Well, that's a bit of a weird way of speaking. Still, he nods.] Yeah, yeah, it looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun, eh?

I'm Rin! How 'bout you?

[terribubble]

[ she smiles. ]

If the missions are always going to be this easy I'm sure we'll get be very happy in no time!

[gatto]

It's nice to meet you, Feferi!

[He grins at her.]

Yeah, yeah, if they're all like this, we're gonna win this game in no time, eh?

[towardsthesky]

[Alto has finally started making his way around the city and slows to a stop when he sees the boy taking pictures of the hideous orange building. He gives a look up at the building with some curiosity, then bad to Rin, tilting his head.]

Why would you want to take pictures of it then?

[gatto]

[He grins over at the newcomer, holding the camera to himself.]

Eh? Why not? It might be tacky, but it's still real interesting!

[towardsthesky]

[He glances at him for a moment before looking back to the building, shoving his hands in his pockets as he frowns up at it.]

It sure is bright...

[gatto]

Yeah, yeah, maybe that was the idea! It's so bright you've just gotta look at it!

[He pauses, before crossing his arms and glaring up at the building.] And then they don't let us in. Boooo.

[towardsthesky]

[His frown deepens a little as he tilts his head to the side at it.]

Usually that means they're hiding something, doesn't it?

[gatto]

Usually. [He lowers his arms again, though his eyes remain on the building.]

We still don't know how they're gonna give us what they promised, y'know. Maybe they've got some kinda' big secret about it hidden in there.
