Summary: Arrivals.
You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

Well, you probably want more joypoints either way. Here's how! Look for another person. I bet they look fairly happy, right? Why are they happier than you? Because they've got the joypoints you need! The only way to get those joypoints is to steal theirs. How? Take their happiness away. It's easy! Maybe a rumor here, an injury there... but if you want the big points, be creative!

HORRIBLY LATE, AND AT THE PARK

[she hadn't stayed in the apartments for too long, wanting to get out and scour the area to see what the city had to offer. different stores and shops, a library, restaurants-- it was really nothing out of the ordinary. well, unless you disregarded the tall building in the center, covered in orange..

she's managed to make her way to the park, and is currently seated on one of the benches, Mr. Mew sprawled over her lap. the start-off mission was easy enough: make three friends. it was nothing she was too worried about, really. just slap on a smile and introduce yourself!

but at the same time... well, it's possible to have some doubts, right?

after a moment of quiet contemplation, she gives a deep breath before moving to finally stand, walking further into the park with Mr. Mew in hand.]

[Normally Rena would avoid stopping a complete stranger, especially in a place as foreign as this one, but the stuffed cat in the girl's hand had caught her eye. So! She'll be running up beside Shiki, beaming.]

Excuse me! Can I ask you something? Can I?

[Shiki gives a surprised "Oh" at Rena's sudden appearance, but she stops nonetheless, returning the smile with one of her own.]

Oh! Sure! Go right ahead!

[ After his little tête-à-tête with Joshua, Neku... really isn't in the mood for this friend-making mission. So instead of seeking people out, he's just parked himself on one of the stupid orange park benches, and is staring gloomily at nothing in particular. The last thing he was expecting to have to deal with here was Joshua, and...

Dammit, this is making everything more complicated. ]

[ Still, the sound of approaching footsteps is enough to make him glance up -- ]

[ And he can hardly believe who he's seeing.

He's frozen with shock, eyes widen and jaw dropping slightly. ]

[ Neku gets to his feet slowly, hardly daring to believe --

... he thought he'd never see her again. ] ... Shiki?

[Shiki's mind has managed to wander off again, the more she walks through the park.

so it's no surprise that she really hadn't noticed all that purple sitting on top of the orange.

though the minute she hears her name being mentioned, she freezes.
