Summary: Arrivals.
You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

Well, you probably want more joypoints either way. Here's how! Look for another person. I bet they look fairly happy, right? Why are they happier than you? Because they've got the joypoints you need! The only way to get those joypoints is to steal theirs. How? Take their happiness away. It's easy! Maybe a rumor here, an injury there... but if you want the big points, be creative!

[Marx was walking towards that area, grumbling to himself about a prince humiliating him and not finding another friend to complete the mission. His head was down slightly, his eyes not focusing on what's in front of him, but rather what's below him. So it should come as no surprise that Marx had bumped into Yagyuu, causing himself to fall flat on his bum. Ouch!]

Hey hey hey, watch where you're going!

Ah, my apologies. I believe you were the one not watching, though.

[Yagyuu offers a solicitous hand - but only after he brushes off his jacket.]

Are you alright?

Yeah...

[Marx takes his hand and uses it to help himself up, only to let it go afterward to brush the dust off of his clothing]

You was in my path, so get out of the way next time!

[After a short pause] Why are you standing around here anyway?

[How rude. There's no sense picking a fight here, though, so he'll just ignore that first command.]

I was thinking of arming myself with something for self defense. I'm not sure it would be a good decision, though.

[Marx peered through the window of the shop to see all sorts of weapons, from knives and grenades to machine guns and bazookas. Even though he doesn't know how to use any of them, he could tell that they will cause a lot of damage to people and property]

Why not? We're supposed to hurt people, aren't we?

[Well, maybe they are, though he hadn't expected that when he'd joined the game. That doesn't mean he should appear eager for it, though.]

I'd prefer not to, really. And considering one of my roommates is a bit careless of others' safety, it may just end up with me the one who's hurt.

That's a shame. I'll change that attitude if I were you, especially if you don't want to be someone else's prey.

[There's some vicious people around here who had joined the game and isn't afraid to sniff out the ones who are weak in their eyes. They will kill without hesitation or at least humiliate their victims, like a certain prince had done to him not so long ago.

That will change once Marx regain his powers from the abilities shop. He'll be able to exact revenge on him and others he had lost points to. But he'll have to play it carefully, since most are smarter than the citizens back in Dreamland. It'll take a lot of hard work and effort, but it can and will be done]

I hardly think anyone here wants to be prey. That doesn't mean I should take much pleasure in causing someone else some unpleasantness.

[That's what he's supposed to say, at least. There's no reason to reveal what he really thinks at the moment.]

Why not? Wouldn't you enjoy hurting someone who has hurt you?

Regardless of any enjoyment one might get from it, that's no way to act in civilized society.

[He's not going to let on how much he'd like it, after all. He has an image to maintain.]
