Summary: Arrivals.
You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

The only way to get those joypoints is to steal theirs. How? Take their happiness away. It's easy! Maybe a rumor here, an injury there... but if you want the big points, be creative!

[ Ranka, being the kind-of-adventurous (or just too curious for her own good) when she wants to be lass she is, is out and about trying to familiarize herself with the city!

... Not one of her best ideas. Unfortunately for her, she gets lost quite easily. You may see a young girl walking around with an expression that clearly says "I'm lost and I don't remember how I even got here."

She's not really paying attention to where she's going at this point. So, sorry, if she accidentally bumps into you. ]

[ Well luckily, Meredith has enough reflex in him to carefully avoid getting hit. In fact, he places a hand carefully on her shoulder to make sure she doesn't trip over his foot or anything; it was kind of a close call.

He looks at her, and if only a little concerned- ]

[ Woah, woah. Steadying herself slowly. ]

[ A relieved sigh. ]

That was a close one. It was one step away from turning into a collision.

[Masaomi is wandering the streets much the same, but luckily he's more aware of his surroundings than this girl. He can tell she's lost, not only in thought, and so before any collision can go down, he calls out with more volume than strictly necessary.]

Hmmm~? Is this damsel distressfully lost? Is she lost in my eyes? Can anyone blame her?!

[ Anri can't quite stifle the choked sound of surprise as she stumbles forward, ostensibly knocked into from behind. Her foot catches on the cobbles and she only just keeps herself upright, straightening to look at her unseen assailant. ]

[As he's wandering around and exploring the city himself, Alto catches sight of Ranka fairly easily--she's difficult to miss. He's fairly convinced he's imagining her up though, since in his version of things, he doesn't think she's alive anymore. A lump grows in his throat at the image and the idea that his mind would play cruel prank on him like this.]

[But as he watches her, her mannerisms, the expressions she makes, it's more and more clear that she's not in fact some illusion. Alto's stomach drops as his feet begin taking him forward without conscious thought, soon rushing over to her.]

Ranka!!

[She's alive! he manages to think as he gets up to her, close enough to verify she's really there before his body again acts on its own, arms wrapping around her to sweep her close to him.]

Ranka... [He repeats her name, less in a panic now, his throat thick. He can't think of how she's here or why, but just the very fact that she is.]

Her mind completely stops after hearing that. That voice-- One of the voices, she would never, ever forget. ]

Alto-- [ Before she even manages to get his name out, she finds herself in his arms. He's real. He's really real.

He's back. Alto's back. ]

[ She can feel the tears starting up now. Ah, he's back.

She's about to return the hug but-- ]

[ Sheryl-san.

She failed Sheryl. She hadn't been able to protect her while Alto was away. Did she even desire to feel so happy to see him again?

Sheryl-san. ]

... I, I'm... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry.

[ accidentally bumping into Sheryl is always welcome (only) if you're Ranka.

not that it registered right away. she had been way too preoccupied in thought, wandering the areas surrounding the city. in truth, she had no idea where she was meant to start. the thought of earning happiness without her friends seemed impossible.

she had no intention of letting that stop her-- she was Sheryl, after all. so here she was, pulling on her smile and attempting to make new friends. when the younger girl bumped into her, Sheryl stepped to the side, turning to apologize.

but instead of sorry, all that came out was; ]

Oh. Oh. There's a lot of unforgettable voices she's recognizing today but-- This one probably tops the cake. ]

[ Alto was here. But, seeing Sheryl, was a huge shock. The last time she had seen the older woman was when she had been in her coma... and at the other's death.

... Is this because of Overjoy? She has no idea but the most important thing is that--

Sheryl's alive. ]
