Summary: Arrivals.
You want happiness. A company called RECOVERjoy has offered it to you, so you've signed up with them. Gaining happiness can't hurt, right?

Suddenly you're in a room, an apartment, with three other beds and unfamiliar faces. This is your assigned room, and it's quite crowded. You don't get much of a chance to think as your phone beeps--it's not your phone, maybe you've never had a phone, but there's one in your hand so you check it. It's a smart phone, nothing special about it, but now you've received a text from RECOVERjoy.

Welcome to Joywick! We're so happy to have you!

You've arrived in your assigned room, we hope you like it! Don't worry, you can move out once you've collected enough joypoints. Speaking of, if you'd like to check your balance, there's a special application that tracks it for you right on your phone! Handy, right?

... Did you check? If you did, you'll notice you have no joypoints. But don't despair! We're giving you a special mission. Make three (3) friends and get 200 joypoints! Gee, that's easy! Of course, we can't put a level on something like friendship, so just get to know people. Don't miss out on these easy points! We'll give you more information about joypoints once you're done.

Park, on the swing set

[It almost felt like home, being here on the swing set. Beat would always take her there and then run off to skateboard or something like that. Rhyme would always follow, but by the end of they day they'd return to the swing set, and he'd put her on a swing and push her as high as he could.

But those days were gone. She was here alone, with no Beat to push her, or to comfort her. She was being told to make friends right after Beat died, and really, she wasn't feeling up to it. She'd put on a smile for all her roommates, but now she couldn't help herself from frowning slightly. She'd be fine, she thought. After all, once she got those million joypoints, Rhyme could go home and Beat would be there waiting for her, alive.

She's quiet, deep in thought. If anyone were to sneak up on her, she'd never notice.]

Re: Park, on the swing set

[Marx didn't choose to sneak up on her, since he had done that already with Neku. He did however sat on an empty swing beside Rhyme and began swinging while humming a tune.]

[She stares at him for a moment, sniffling, before working up some kind of courage to say something.]

H-hi?

[heyheyhey]

[He stopped his humming, turning his head to face the girl while still swinging on his swing]

Hey hey hey, don't be so down! Swing with me!

I don't know if I'm really feeling up to swinging...[She hops off the sawing.]

I should let someone else use it..

[heyheyhey]

[He turned to the left, he turned to the right. He even looked up towards the sky and down on the ground to see no one nearby. It's just them in an otherwise empty park]

But no one else is here.

[She stops, turning to put a hand on the chain of the swing. She looks like she's reconsidering.]

But someone might come..

[heyheyhey]

We'll give them a turn if they show up, okay? Now come on, Let's swing!

[He continues on with his swinging while waiting for Rhyme to join in. It's only a matter of time, right?]

[She does eventually, swinging slowly and looking around.]

[noisy]

[ if it wasn't the sacrificial lamb, per se...

she doesn't look very happy, does she? he tilts her head at her, from his current position, propped on top of a little rocking horse. ]

[Rhyme blinked at him. He certainly fit the description that Beat had given her about the Composer--'prissy', he was almost frail as a doll. What was his name again? So much had happened, she barely knew the guy besides as the 'Composer'--the horrible person who wasn't there when she needed him most, when Beat died. Think, Rhyme, think.]

[And then she realized he had actually talked to her, and she shook her head.]

Lost in thought.

[And then her tone becomes low, finally remembering the name. Neku had told her. She almost sounded wary, unhappy with him with a hint of confusion.]

Are you Joshua?

[noisy]

[ rude HE'S NOT SOME BARBIE, what has Daisukenojo been telling you???

but, ah, that's rather odd, isn't it? for her to pin him with a name so quickly. she's always been pretty perceptive -- during the game, too, but to this extent... he only has to wonder what kind of misadventure she must've had to be here playing a game like this.

not to mention, he'll have to keep his reputation in check around here, if even she's able to identify him so quickly. nevertheless-- ]

Do you need a push? [ as if to provide an example, he begins swaying on the horse he's perched upon. ]

Sometimes it helps to get things started.

[He also seems to be wearing a brand from her world--Pegaso--so maybe that's what Beat meant? Either way, she doesn't answer his question.]

It's just that I don't think we've ever met before, and you called me by one of my many nicknames. Came as a bit of a shock, I'll admit.

well, if he wasn't completely sold on the idea of everyone coming from alternate universes, then this pretty much takes the cake. but musing on that comes later, because for now- ]

Whoa, hold on, toots. [ he lifts his hands up in surrender in front of him, his smile dropping, rocking horse coming to a full stop. all in all, it's a pretty good attempt at looking perfectly innocent. ] I'm pretty sure you have me mistaken for someone else.

[ his tone is low, even, soothing almost. it's obvious he's trying to defuse the situation, but his motives are probably questionable at best (too bad it's impossible to read his mind).

but he's thinking on his feet -- how does she know about the composer? exactly how much has Neku -- has anyone really told her?

and with Neku being not the Neku he knows, it's safe to say that Joshua's in very hot water. ]

... Okay, look. You have my condolences about this... Beat character, but I'm afraid I've no idea what you're talking about... Sorry.
